How great is it that I get to post on the leap day of a leap year! I flew back to GA this past weekend and was able to completely surprise my mom. Below is the video and just for clarification at the end I say, "I didn't even lie to you."

This past President's Day weekend was quite the roadtrip. My little sister and I left Provo around 3pm and traveled 8 hours to Reno. It was the first time I had seen real salt flats. We traveled with cousin Wayne and his wife Rachel to San Francisco. It was the first time I had been there and Heidi had never been to California and nor seen the Pacific ocean. We went to Chinatown, saw the ocean, went to Pier 39 and enjoyed seeing the Golden Gate Bridge on our way home. On Sunday we went to church and then visited Lake Tahoe. We played games and on the way out Monday saw where my dad went to church. After the car didn't start because it had no gas Monday morning I decided to push it past empty again on the way home for a great roadtrip story. We made it back to Provo around 1Am Tuesday morning.

I did earn my photography merit badge in Scouts. That is a San Fran trolley (moving as well) strategically placed behind me.

Not pictured is another littler Jason who pulled Wayne's hand and led him downstairs to a Chinese place where we had duck among other fine cuisines.

That is Pier 39 and San Fran behind us.

This is a picture of lake Tahoe. It was much bigger than I had imagined.

This is part of the building where my dad went to church. I tried jumping off the rails where he probably did. Fun, but higher than I had expected.

This is the Golden Gate Bridge at night. Wayne says its usually more lit up but O well... you all can probably see that its golden much better than me anyways. Cool bridge though!

Jumping into snow

So, what else am I to do when I can jump into a mound of snow? The video is fun to watch and the picture is the result. I was sitting upright but completely buried in snow. We jumped a couple of times but this was fun to watch my blue self disappear into the snow. Enjoy.

Snowshoeing in the world's best snow

I went snowshoeing with some friends this past Saturday. We estimated we were walking on at least 4 or 5 feet of snow at the lowest point. We hiked in between two mountains and circled back along a ridge. In the pictures below we'll start from the top to bottom. In the first picture you can see I am eating some beef jerky. You can also see that our tracks disappear and then reappear in the upper left portion of the picture. We hiked up quite a steep slope. The picture with me face first in the snow is when my snowshoe sunk a couple of feet in the snow and got caught on a buried tree branch and I ended in the pictured position! The top of the snow in spots was thick and icey enough that I could cut out a piece and hold it up. Its quite fun to through at people! The piece pictured was among the biggest I "cut" out. The next picture shows my tracks to get to where I was on the left hand side of the picture. It was fun to be up on the slope. I proceeded to try and slide down further down the path (which would be just to the right of the picture) but the powder stopped that. The picture with all of us standing there shows how we were forging into the snow; there was no path before us. I enjoyed swapping the lead with my friend Kurt. Overall, it was a blast!

The board I was using was huge. One is Evan and I waiting for the next set with a rainbow behind us. The others are different waves that I caught at Haleiwa, which is on the North Shore.

Fall Ball in Waikiki

These pictures are from the recent Fall Ball. The shot where my date, Ashley, and I are looking up is on a docked cruise ship in Waikiki. The other shots are at the Waikiki aquarium where we had dinner. They wanted to do a prom photo so you can see that one. The other one was supposed to be a backdrop of fish. It was a fun night!

These pictures are from when we went Kayaking on the North Shore. Luckily it is flat there but you get the picture of how beautiful it was. Clear water and a little river to kayak up. There is one with Ashley and me on a kayak, Shenley walking towards my kayak and the group. The last picture is the Kiwi (New Zealand) Haka. I'm in the back right but you get the jist of how cool it was. It was Culture Night at BYUH and we performed in front of a couple hundred, maybe a 1000 people!!!

The top looks out over Laie. That little island is called Goats Island is where I went surfing last week. The next picutre is another nice view especially the little bit of 'wing' my hair curled into. Believe it or not that is long for me. The last one is Laie falls and Diana, Ashley, Britain, and Melody around me. PS...swimwear was being worn:)

In the top left you have Britain and Me with the Pacific as the backdrop. The top right is my standard upside down picture in a sweet tree. The one with four in the tree is Bo, Me, Kaylee and Melody. It looks like we're high up because we were but there was a very steep slop and the backdrop was across the little valley. Another shot of me with cool background and the last is Melody, Diana, Ashley, Chris and me with the trail going off to the right. We hiked among the trees in the back to the ensuing falls.

Aloha...the majority of the pics below are from Maunauili, a really sweet hike with 50 ft. cliff at the end for jumping, which I did of course. The first face painting picture is from a volleyball game (Briana, Evan, Lua and me) and the other is the same night with Sharla, Jennifer and Kate. Aloha -- Ok so the picture with the little hut far away in the distance and mountains in the background--that 'hut' is my school campus. The picture with a white car in it was taken from my driveway and where you see the white car is where the beach is...literally! The one where it looks windy...well it is, but the view behind is great. The last one is real shaved ice. They say it is the best in the world. I've been to the beach at least once a day everyday since Tuesday. I also have a great school load that will transfer back to Provo, so if your worried, I go to the beach after school. Mahalo

Aloha!! Yes, I am safe and sound living less than a minute walk from the beach. I'll be here for 4 months going to BYU Hawaii and enjoying the local island. There will be pictures soon.
